Welcome

Welcome to the Lions Club of Milton Keynes (Stony Stratford)   The club was formed in 1975 and is celebrating 40 years of service to local, national and international communities.

Our website is designed to show the outside world who we are, what we do and our wider role in the local and international community, as well as keep fellow club members and other Lions informed of our latest projects and events.

Our Club is part of the world's largest network of voluntary service organisations, Lions Clubs International, which has as its prime objective to create and foster a spirit of understanding among the peoples of the world. Lions Clubs take an active interest in the civic, cultural, social and moral welfare of their communities and promote the principles of good government and good citizenship. The money raised by the Lions is used principally to help people in the local community, but also, in line with the Lions’ worldwide perspective, to help those in need in other countries, particularly the Third World. We also contribute to disaster areas across the globe.

EMPOWERING THROUGH SERVICE

Dear Fellow Lions,

Our 9th District Youth Celebration party held on Sunday 27th November at Allum Hall, Elstree was another big success. We had nearly 500 people in attendance including the Lions. Everyone who came had a great time. Thank you very much for sponsoring/booking tables, helping, bringing the kids to the party, donating and for many other forms of contribution that made it all happen. Without your help and support it would not have been possible –Thank you!

DYC committee, consisting of Lions Alastair Joel, Vivien Raggett, Kishore Pattni, John Savell and Satnam Loyal along with many Leos, Lions, young/old helpers who were there to set it all up early in the morning and clear in the evening. All the volunteers worked tirelessly for the whole day and did a wonderful job. The hall, stage and tables were all colourfully decorated in this year’s theme. Just after 1pm the guests started arriving. All our hard work was worth it to see room full of happy smiling faces.

We would like to thank the following clubs for supporting DYC 2016 by sponsoring and booking tables. Lions Clubs of: Alyesbury, Barking, Biggleswade Sandy, Bletchley Milton Keynes, Chipping Barnet, Ealing,  Edgware, Lion B.K Patel (Enfield), Fairlop,  Feltham & Whitton, Harrow & Pinner, Greenford Willow Tree, Harpenden, Hayes & Harlington, Hemel Hempstead, High Wycombe, Hitchin, Kenton, Letchworth & Baldock, London Acton, London Belmont, London Finchley, London Golders Green, London Hendon, London Hornsey, London Kingsbury, London Mill Hill, London Seven Kings, London Swiss Cottage, Luton, Milton Keynes Central, Moor Park,

I am sure all those present on Sunday will agree we took great satisfaction in seeing our efforts rewarded by bringing joy to so many people and we Touched many more Lives through Service. The following part of an email received from a parent sums it all:

'It was wonderful thank you, my children have been coming for years usually with a carer but this was the first time I came, I was very impressed with the devotion put in and the obvious commitment you have to making the world a better place,'

'I am a single disabled mother and i struggle so much with pain and coping day to day life, Gopal is sick and has very special diet, i am his mother,  we dont have anyone to share our worries with!    So it was very lovely to just let go for a short while and forget all the pain and suffering and delight in the spectacular arrangements that you had made, with attention to every single detail it was more than perfect, although a bit of Michael Jackson may be good next year ! i loved the Indian DJ and the funny Indian songs and dances and of course the balloons face painting were incredible, i was so impresses that in charity and love someone would take so much time and effort and expense for disabled children etc, we really appreciate it so much thank you from the core of my heart'

Thank you very much for your support and look forward to your participation again next year.

Lions donate around 5.7 million hours and £88 million to humanitarian causes each year.

As a volunteer organisation all the money we raise goes directly to charity. All administration costs are met by members.
