Diabetes
Diabetes can lead to serious diseases
affecting the heart and blood vessels, eyes, kidneys, nerves and teeth.
In most high-income countries, diabetes is a leading cause of
cardiovascular disease, blindness, kidney failure, and lower limb
amputation. It is expected to affect 629 million adults worldwide by
2045.
We want to reduce the prevalence of diabetes and improve quality of life
for those diagnosed.
It is estimated 4.7 million UK residents are living with both Type 1 and
Type 2 Diabetes which can lead to complications mentioned above.
What can be done locally?
Diabetes UK, who partner with many Lions Clubs
are looking for people in the Milton Keynes area to take on a the SWIM22
challenge between February and May 2020. You can swim 22 miles (the
width of the English Channel) in a local pool at your own pace or even
‘bite size’ distances to make up the 22 miles total.
Get sponsorship ….do the challenge alone or with family, friends or
colleagues. There is no registration fee ..just sign up at
