In September a dozen members and partners visited the
Milton Keynes Waste Disposal site.
This was very interesting as:
Milton Keynes Waste Recovery Park brings together three state-of-the-art
technologies – mechanical treatment, anaerobic digestion and advanced
thermal treatment - to treat ‘black sack’ waste collected from homes in
Milton Keynes.
Together, the technologies increase the amount of recyclable materials
which are removed from the waste, in turn cutting the amount of rubbish
sent to landfill to around 3%.
The anaerobic digestion and advanced thermal treatment also generate
enough energy to power around 11,000 homes - similar to the number of
households in Wolverton and Newport Pagnell combined. See

The July meeting was a lively one with members and partners listening to
their favourite tunes courtesy of You Tube and Spotify while in August
we learned from David Hadfield all about Boccia – a Paralympic sport for
athletes with severe disabilities affecting motor skills. David is the
President of the Boccia International Sports Federation. David brought
some balls and members had a go. Judging was harder than it looks!!! We
know of one local school which plays Boccia and will make contact at the
start of term.
